NEW DEADLINE! Please note that the deadline for applications has been extended to Friday 9th of March.
The Bealtaine festival is offering up to five bursaries for experienced artists exploring aspects of ageing to support their attending a professional development residential weekend. These places are supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
This is an opportunity to exchange information with like-minded peers, explore the diversity of work being created and the contexts in which it is being made.
Residential Weekend
Friday 23 March to Sunday 25 March
The Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Annaghmakerrig, Co. Monaghan, Rep. of Ireland
www.tyroneguthrie.ie
Artists who engage with the Bealtaine festival work in a variety of forms and practices. They might be exploring issues of ageing through dance or working on reminiscence projects in care settings. They might be working to improve conditions for vulnerable people in older age by changing our cultural understanding of age, or be following their fascination with older faces, or the representation of age on film, or memory. This might be a lifetime’s work or a period in their practice. The artists working with us are themselves of different generations. Bealtaine values all of these.
This residency will invite people to:
- Share and identify good practice
- Affirm diverse practices
- Exchange learning
- Raise awareness of artistic engagement with ageing from around the world
- Develop informal networks for exchange and support
- Discuss issues and concerns
Participating artists will be asked to present and discuss their work in a supportive setting.
Costs
The bursary covers full board, lodgings and supporting staff. We are unable to cover transport costs. Otherwise, attendance is free.
Schedule
It begins at lunchtime on Friday 23 March and ends in the early part of the afternoon on Sunday 25 March to facilitate travelling, work and family commitments.
